Time: 14:00-15:30
Speaker:
Dr Serra Pitts, Wellbeing Director, Concentrix
Moderating egregious content is distinct to other moderation tasks, and here the emphasis on moderator protection should be at its highest. This hands-on workshop will describe the relationship between biometric data, mental health and performance, and show how data and technology can be used to identify the needs of your moderators in real-time. Using our cross-platform best practice, we’ll show you which tools are the most effective for setting up an appropriate workforce management strategy and ensuring safe spaces are available to moderators throughout their employment.

Speakers:
Dom Sparkes, Director Trust & Safety, EMEA, Concentrix
David Elliott, Head of Technology, Trust & Safety, Concentrix
As T&S professionals, our ultimate goal is clear: we are here to protect users, brands and organisations. However, when making that case internally or to clients - definitions, outcomes, and metrics - are often difficult to define and communicate.
This workshop shall endeavour to consolidate our collective intelligence, define T&S ROI, discuss measurement tactics and arm ourselves with just a little more ammo to help us answer this age-old question.

Panelists:
Adam Levine, Director of Government Engagement, Child Rescue Coalition
Sigurdur Ragnarsson, CEO, Videntifier

The detection and handling of CSAM is a major concern for the T&S industry. As new ways of production emerge, we too must adapt in our fight against its spreading. What are the responses to AI production? What is the responsibility of the various societal players (platforms, governments, etc.)? During this panel discussion, we'll look at the different strategies in place, and consider tomorrow's solutions for protecting children online.

EU regulations: essential or over-regulation?

Time: 12:00-13:30
Location: Zoku Amsterdam, Weesperstraat 105, 1018VN Amsterdam (same as the Concentrix meet-up at 14:00)
EU legislation seeks to take control of the internet. For years, there have been growing calls for regulation of the internet, as we all have a duty to put boundaries in place to protect children and prevent victimisation.
Currently, we have DSA, TCO and e-Evidence, which lead to both specific and broad legislative measures. Additionally, there are other relevant EU regulations such as the AI Act, EMFA, DMA, CSAM, AVMSD, and all sorts of voluntary codes. At the same time, there are external developments outside the EU that are driving this movement towards more legislation.
We now have a responsibility to ask ourselves some critical questions. Have we gone too far with regulation? Or is it still not enough? And how do we avoid censorship?
Speakers:
- Thierry Marchand, Senior Public Policy & Government Relations Manager Benelux, TikTok
- Arda Gerkens, Chair, Authority for the prevention of online Terrorist Content and Child Sexual Abuse Material (ATKM)
Other speaker(s) to be announced shortly.
Panel moderated by Caroline Humer, co-founder of the Trust & Safety Festival.

Trust & Safety Innovation Lab
Topics: Trust & Safety Innovation Lab
Location: Paul van Vlissingenstraat 10, 1096 BK Amsterdam, Netherlands
Time: 9:00 - 17:00
Tremau and Cognizant will co-host a T&S case study Lab as part of the Trust & Safety Festival in Amsterdam. The event is designed for all T&S enthusiasts (students, T&S policy, compliance, legal, operations and engineering teams) willing to work together to showcase the importance and impact of efficient T&S operations in a fast changing threat and regulatory environment.
In this full-day, hands-on lab, participants will collaborate in small groups to design strategies, processes, and tools for a fictional platform undergoing hyperscaling and in need of a Trust & Safety overhaul.
Faced with scaling challenges and increasingly stringent regulatory demands, participants will step into the role of the platform’s Trust & Safety team, tackling one of three scenarios: best practices for risk assessments and transparency reporting, content moderation at scale, or policy development and enforcement. Teams will present their solutions to Trust & Safety experts, who will provide feedback and lead discussions.
The lab will kick off with insights from Tremau and Cognizant experts, along with contributions from regulators, industry leaders, and enforcement authorities.
Registration will close on the 14th November 2024.
Registration in now Closed. If interested please email info@trustandsafetyfestival.com
